Summer’s kicking off with a bang!

It’s a very sticky and stormy start to summer. A large part of Australia will be uncomfortably humid with widespread rain and storms all week!

The worst affected capital cities for storms are Sydney and Canberra with both getting rattled by thunder and lightning every day. Melbourne and Adelaide’s most volatile days will be mid-week, while recently battered Brisbane is set to get drenched later in the week from Thursday/Friday onwards.

Very warm, humid air is is being carried by northerly winds from the tropics providing plenty of available moisture for rain. To set it off, a broad trough of low pressure is creating unsettled conditions and will trigger showers and thunderstorms each day.

By the end of the week, most of northern and eastern Australia will have seen 25-50mm of rainfall, with 50-100mm for the eastern half of NSW and southeast QLD. Parts of northeast NSW around the Northern Tablelands and Mid North Coast could see up to 200mm!
